this town

Washington in spring: 3,000 cherry blossom trees sent as a gift from the mayor of Tokyo in 1912 are in full bloom, making Irwin Stelzer (economist and wise man) rather glad that calls after Pearl Harbor to have them cut down went unheeded.

Frank Sinatra caught it best and inadvertently, in ‘This Town’:

This town is a quiet town; Or a riot town.
This town is a love-you-town,
and a shove-you-down and push-you-round town.’
